Volunteer with Friends of Thetford Forest

As a Volunteer, you benefit from a discount card in the High Lodge Cafe and have priority booking for Friends of Thetford Forest (FoTF) events. After 35 recorded hours of volunteering, you will receive a FREE DISCOVERY PASS valid for one year. FoTF Membership is only £10.00 for a household for a year and brings with it a range of benefits

Please volunteer for:

'Meet and Greet' at High Lodge Centre.

Welcoming people as they arrive at High Lodge, informing them of the work of Friends and answering their queries.

If you like meeting people and enjoy talking to them, this is the role for you!

Checking the Walking Trails.

Monitoring the condition of the various walking trails at High Lodge and in Thetford Forest generally so that they are safe from hazards and litter-free.

If you regularly walk a trail, perhaps with your dog, you would be ideal for this role.

Looking after Lynford Arboretum

Carrying out day-to-day maintenance of the Arboretum at Mundford, most Sundays and Wednesdays.

If you love trees and enjoy working in tranquil and beautiful surroundings, please volunteer here.

Conservation

Enhancing habitats for rare plants and animals on the third Sunday of every month "somewhere" in Thetford Forest, under the guidance of the Forestry Commission's East of England Ecologist.

Knowing that you are helping wildlife could be the reason you volunteer.

Archaeology

Investigating and caring for archaeological sites within the Forest, from pre-history to the modern era.

If you love history and would like to help discover more about the Forest's heritage, take this opportunity.

The Monday Group

Help support the gardening maintenance work of adults with learning challenges who volunteer at High Lodge for two hours on Monday mornings with their carers.

If you value creating opportunities for everyone, then you will find this role very rewarding.

Friends of Thetford Forest values its volunteers and the Forestry Commission needs the help and support of Friends' members. For more details please email volunteering@fotf.org.uk
