FoTF Archaeology at work

Friends of Thetford Forest (FoTF) Archaeology undertakes archaeological research, focusing on historic documents and heritage sites. FoTF Archaeology work with Forestry England and with Norfolk and Suffolk Historic Environment Services and they give guidance and help with training.

2015 saw the group make a number of visits to site in and around the Forest, with clearance work being done at Ickburgh Warren Lodge and the installation of interpretation boards. In 2016, Friends began a new initiative - caring for a number of archaeological sites across the Forest, making sure they are not being damaged by encroaching vegetation and that they can be viewed safely.

More recently, in 2018, and continuing into 2019, FoTF were involved in various activities relating to the High Lodge Heritage Trail.

For more information, and details on how you can be involved, please email [email protected] with FoTF Archaeology in the subject.
