Conservation Group

The Friends of Thetford Forest (FoTF) Conservation Group is one of the volunteer groups run by FoTF. FoTF Conservation undertake various conservation tasks during scheduled events. Previous tasks are varied and have included scrub clearance in and around the Goshawk Trail at Mayday Farm, clearing around the various ponds at High Lodge, construction and placement of bird and bat boxes in and around High Lodge, as well as the construction of Tern Rafts for placement in Lynford Arboretum lake and many other tasks.

The group meet at 09:00, and generally finish at 13:00, every 3rd Sunday in a month, and the meeting point depends on the location of the work being undertaken, but a mail is sent out the week prior to the meeting to confirm the details of the date, time, and starting point.

Participation is free for FoTF members and we welcome non members. However, due to insurance requirements, we have to insist the volunteers are members, though you can join us for just one day at £1.00 to try us out. The £1.00 will be deducted from the full membership if you decide to join us fully. If you are under 16, you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tools and safety gear are provided, and we ask that all attendees follow the instructions given at the Health and Safety briefing before starting. Refreshments are also provided to keep the energy level up!
