General Election Candidate Letter Reply - Julian Flood

Below is the reply recieved from Julian Flood, UKIP PPC (West Suffolk), to the letter to the candidates in the constituencies in or around Thetford Forest Forest issued by the Friends of Thetford Forest (FoTF):

Dear Voter,

Sorry about sending you a form reply but we're UKIP. As such we don't get huge contributions from businessmen and companies seeking to buy influence, nor do we get orders and money from the large unions. At branch level we make do with small contributions from whoever we can nag into joining. Because we've got no money I have to do all my own correspondence and, nice though it would be to reply individually, a form letter it must be.

I'm grateful to be reminded of trees. I'm the local tree warden and my interest goes back to boyhood when I was brought up among the beech woods of Hampshire. East Anglia is short of trees and your letter reminds me that I have failed to persuade local farmers to plant proper trees on the edges of their fields – their grants depend on planting hedges and it should not be impossible to add trees to the requirements.

A timely reminder. Thank you.
