Save Our Forests Campaign

Whilst the original 2010 plans for a complete sale of the Public Forest Estate have been put on hold, as a direct result of the countrywide campaign against such a proposal, the Government appointed a 'Panel of Experts' to review all aspects of the Estate.

On January 31st 2013 the Government announced its official response to the Independent Panel on Forestry's (IPF) Final Report on the future of England's Woods and Forests. Friends of Thetford Forest (FoTF) issued a short response to the Government official response to the Final Report on the future of England's Woods and Forests. Throughout the campaign, from its inception when the Government first announced the planned sale of the Public Forest Estate to the reversal of that decision and the commissioning of the 'Panel of Experts', to the subsequent Government response, the Friends of Thetford Forest have campaigned to ensure FoTF, and FoTF members, views were known.

FoTF have issued campaign updates via FoTF newsletters, as well as to the FoTF website, so that members were aware of the recent announcements and the work the Friends were undertaking in this area.
